Kiwis in Torquay

We are delighted to partner with historian David who presents his fascinating Kiwis in Torquay talk taking us back to the 40,000 New Zealand soldiers recovering in St Marychurch and Torquay from the horrors inflicted during WW1. David is also happy to walk the locality to show you the (remaining) buildings which are referred to in his presentation.  Our resident kiwi, Tui, was astounded to learn of this incredible link between Torquay and New Zealand where numerous NZ soldiers married Torquinian ladies and returned with them and their little ones back to New Zealand. Tui felt this historical insight really ought to be shared, especially with New Zealanders who may have an historical link to this part of our shared history. Depending on availability, this talk is free to those staying six nights or more booked from 21st Mar 2024 throughout 2024.
